4TH GRADE TEACHERS

Hello! My name is Maria Edholm (Mrs. Edholm) and I am one of the 4th grade teachers here at Hawking 1. This is my first year at Hawking and I couldn’t be any more excited and lucky to be a part of this amazing school. I am from the Central Valley. I’m married to my best friend, and we have a 3-year-old daughter (Ava). We have lived in San Diego for three years. My husband is in the US Navy and is stationed here in Coronado. He is currently about to embark on his 2nd deployment. We are so happy to call San Diego our home! My hobbies include hiking, powerlifting, cooking, traveling, attending sporting events, trying new foods all around San Diego and spending time with my family.

I obtained my Bachelors in Sociology from the University of California, Merced in 2016. In 2020, I obtained my Master’s in Education and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from Alliant International University. I have been teaching for the past two years. I am extremely enthusiastic about Hawking’s vision for their student’s. I am a strong believer that teaching is not only about instructing students on what to do, but rather it is about being able to be a catalyst in igniting a natural curiosity for the process of learning. I believe in the importance of providing all my students with the necessary tools to succeed inside and outside of the classroom so that they can be a positive change for their communities and beyond. I am so happy to be a part of the Hawking family. Thank you for entrusting me in your child’s education! I look forward to working with your child in becoming the leader of tomorrow! Go HBOTS!
